Vineyard

Welcome to the Vineyard Urzecha Hof Georg Schmitz, Ürzig. Our vineyard manages about 2 hectares of vineyards in the steep slopes around the quiet village Ürzig, with the famous wine situation "Ürziger Würzgarten", one of the best and most popular locations of the Moselle. The particularly good climatic conditions on the Moselle and the slate floor will help us very special wines. For visitors and guests, we offer apartments and guest rooms with and without "Moselblick". A tasty pint exist in our rustic wine cellar.

Our vineyard is a family business. The wines are from vine to the glass through and through their own plants, and the generations since.

Our vineyards "Ürziger Würzgarten" and "Erdener Treppchen" are mostly steep, the special labour input and require the use of machines largely impossible. The results are wines of high quality and special taste. We look forward to your visit.

Our vines are the three big R: Riesling · Rivaner and Regent Wine

The cultivation of the vine is done by the classic single pile education in "Steilhängen" (> 65%), the wire frame education in sloping or shallower areas.

The area around Ürzig includes several different types of soil. The two major types of soil are stained red sandstone soil weathering called "Rotliegendes", and the weathering schist soil. These soil and rock types are dominant factors for the diversity of our wines.
